答案 Are Prizes a Good Thing? Motivating people to achieve objectives is a very important part of business activity. It is also an important aspect in many other walks of life, not the least being education. Effective motivation involves offering some form of incentive,or reward, if the objective is achieved. Incentive and reward can be other terms for a prize and, if it achieves the desired result, it would be considered a good thing. Modern society is based on competition and,for any competition,there has to be a reward of some sort for the winner. To make the competition worthwhile, the prize needs to be sufficiently attractive to entice the best competitors. In business,the prize may take the form of a salary and bonus payments but,there are many variations in what is available. The carrot always be sent in turn for hard work. Present society is both competitive and materialistic. Hence, there is an, almost, automatic conception that people need an incentive to do anything. Some people made large sums of money in this way. In my opinion this is equivalent to the carrot and stick approach, if the work is done they get the carrot but, if the objective is not achieved,they get the stick across their back.
