Many people think of school as building, teachers and students. Proprietary schools, however, think first of the student. Proprietary schools are privately owned vocational schools. Since the students themselves normally pay for the cost of training, the school must offer the training that is practical and that will help students get a paying job. Generally, the training lasts from 6 months to one year.
Courses in proprietary schools not only include training in business and technical skills, but also in self-improvement, such as painting, crafts, speech and physical development.
Teachers in proprietary schools generally work longer hours for less pay than public schools. However, the quality of instrument is high, because teachers work closely with students. Some schools ask students to evaluate the teachers.
Proprietary schools emphasize applied rather than theoretical knowledge. They are often willing to experiment with new ideas in their teaching. The teachers themselves come from the real world of work. They know what the students will need on the job. The students are, of course, interested in results: really get a good job. Generally most of them do, and this can be a success in education.
Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard.
22. What is NOT the policy of proprietary schools?
23. How long will the training last?
24. Which of the following courses is NOT included in the training?
25. What can be concluded from the passage about proprietary schools?
选项
A、Teachers come from all over the world.
B、Getting a good job is the primary aim of education.
C、New ideas are seldom adopted in teaching.
D、Theoretical rather than applied knowledge is emphasized.
答案
B
解析
细节辨认题。短文指出The teachers themselves come from the real world of work.而不是come from allover the world,故选项A错误。由They often are willing to experiment with new ideas in their teaching.
