W: Yes, I have asked myself the following questions; Do I like travelling to unfamiliar places? Am I comfortable being away from family and friends for an extend period of time? Will I shape myself academically, professionally and personally with the study abroad? My answers to these questions are " Yes, " and that means studying abroad is probably a great choice for me. But I have some issues to consider.
M: What are the issues you are considering?
W: First, I face the financial problem to go overseas. I should be very selective to decide which university will be the best for me.
M: Yes, that’s really a big problem! But don’t be frustrated! You can take some part-time jobs or apply for the scholarship to help you out of the financial trouble.
W: That sounds great!
M: Besides the financial problem, what else are you considering?
W: I am also thinking about how to choose the best university for me.
M: Do you think that education in our nation is still lagging behind other countries?
W: Yes, I do. We tend to adopt systems from other countries without considering our own culture. We should also make sure that the students have a good balance between studies and life skills.
M: How can we balance between studies and life skills?
W: Give the students more concern to explore subjects that suit the personal interests of the students. Motivate them to be able to self-learn rather than to follow the crowd.
M: What about our curriculum nowadays?
W: We still place too much emphasis on cognitive skills.
M: What do you think will be the advantages besides obtaining a degree when you are studying abroad?
W: Studying in a foreign country permits students to become more independent and cultured and at the same time helps them foster their cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills.
