Read the texts from a magazine article about controversy over human cloning research. For questions 61 to 65 ,match the name of each person to one of the statements( A to G)given below. Mark your answers on your ANSWER SHEET.
Article One:
Over the years, the fear of making human clones has polluted the debate about making cloned embryos for research. Not only has it been difficult for the American people to understand that human cloning may never work, it has also been difficult for them to understand that the real interest in human cloning is for stem-cell research.
Article Two:
Contrary to what many people think, researchers who really do understand the mechanisms behind cloning want to make it a reality in order to help people with spinal-cord injuries and diseases like Parkinson’s. There are no legitimate scientists out on deserted islands trying to clone for fun and profit, and even if there were, their chances of successfully making a living human person are remote if not zero.
Article Three:
In reality, no one knows how to create a healthy human baby through cloning. But more to the point, no respectable scientist wants to. And even if they did want to, there is no reason to think a clone would be any nastier or less fully human than babies born in test tubes or by means of C-sections.
Article Four:
You and your tax dollars have supported a great deal of research on human genetics and bio technology at the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies. But what is the sense in developing a biotechnology research base that is the envy of the world only to see the world take what we have learned so that it can someday sell the research back to us?
Article Five:
Human cloning is controversial, but mainly for the wrong reasons. The topic is linked in many people’s minds to the cloning of people, or reproductive cloning, which no one except a nut would want to try given the high failure rates that plague efforts to clone animals. Those who want to protect the rights of human embryos keep lumping reproductive cloning and therapeutic cloning together when they are completely different.
Now match each of the articles to the appropriate statement.
Note: there are two extra statements.
Statements
[A] Misidentification of reproductive cloning with the therapeutic cloning gives rise to controversy over human cloning.
[B] The intention of the candied-out cloning research are largely therapeutic in nature.
[C] Misinformed fear about human cloning has got in the way of stemcell research.
[D] Human cloning research has made a breakthrough in the USA.
[E] Fear about human cloning is unfounded both from the intention of researchers and the prospect of cloning research.
[F] Success in animal cloning has stimulated interest in human cloning.
[G] Theoretical research should be further elevated to more technical and practical plane.
