Why did the boss shout at the man?

W:  Hello,  Jack. How did your first day at the office go?
M:  It didn’t go well at all,  I must say.
W:  Why? What happened?
M: Well, for one thing, I was eight minutes late and the boss shouted at me. And he made me work hard all day. He wouldn’t let me take a coffee break. He had me sit at my desk all the time!
W:  Were you asked to do overtime?
M:  No. We all left the office at five.
W:   Well,   that’s not too bad. What do the other people at the office think of the boss?
M: They say he’s very strict with new employees. But if you work hard and don’t waste time, he’s pretty easy to get along with.
