What were Jack and I doing when we saw the cat?

One day my friend Jack and I were playing in the garden when I saw a cat in our big tree. It looked frightened and we thought it couldn’t get down, so we climbed up to help it. We didn’t have a ladder, so my friend helped me up. I reached the cat. And with a lot of difficulty, I passed it to my friend. I began to come down but a branch broke. I couldn’t move up or down, and I couldn’t jump. Jack didn’t have a ladder so he couldn’t help me, and the cat just sat and looked at me. Jack went to get help. After about an hour he came back with some firemen. They brought a ladder and helped me down. I was very grateful. As soon as they left, the cat climbed up the tree again. This time I didn’t try to help it.
