The two men would go riding together every day. It so happened that one day on the route, there was a ditch about eight or nine feet wide. When coming up to this ditch, the red horse was quick to respond and jumped it with no difficulty. Yet the more docile horse would shrink every time it came to the edge. It would stand on the edge, shaking. Then after a while, coming up to the ditch and watching its companion jump it easily, something happened within it—an idea was born that it could too. So it smoothly jumped over the obstacle. Life is much like what happened to the two horses. It all comes to a choice whether we look for the spirit within or just stand on the edge and shrink.
