答案 With the economic development in China, there are many chances for people to find a good job in the city, and many peasants rushed into the city as the migrant workers. However, there is an ambivalent feeling towards migrant workers from rural areas. Undoubtedly , they have made great contributions to the urban development. They take up dangerous and underpaid jobs in heavy industries , construction sites and many other fields that city residents are unwilling to perform. They have become an indispensable part of urban life to a point where the machinery of a city cannot operate without those cogs, though small and unnoticed. Yet an anti-migrant attitude rages through the mainstream of urban consciousness. City residents complain that such workers have worsened traffic congestion and caused sanitation problems, posing a threat to the already scarce opportunities of employment. Their arrival also contributes to the sharp rise in the urban crime rate. Weighing up the pros and cons, we can safely come to the conclusion that their contributions outweigh the inconveniences they bring us. How can we ignore the fact that a grand, prosperous edifice of the city is based on the work of millions of migrant workers?
