问题                 Reality and Perception of Personality
1. Except your beloved whose face you might have looked at many times very closely, look at the face of any person well known to you, and focus your gaze for a few moments. I am sure you will find a different face quite unknown to you. This is the real face of the subject person. You will be surprised that before this focus, you were having quite a different view of the person in your mind. For the same reason, a person may look differently in different photographs of his/her.
2. You may be thinking that you know many persons in reality but it seldom true. You know a person in accordance with your own imagination of the person and accordingly develop your perception about him/her. And this perception of yours is highly influenced by your own personality. Very often, good persons perceive all others as good persons and vice versa. This may be said that every perception of a person about others is highly subjective, and this can not be avoided. Very often, subjectivity is criticized and objectivity is appreciated but the reality of life is that none can be absolutely objective about anything. Subjectivity can never be avoided, and this is true for one’s perceptions about other persons.
3. A wishful perception is not only about others but about oneself too. We all ignore our realities and present ourselves in accordance with our wishes. Since, we keep on presenting ourselves in accordance with our wishes, we tend to become what we want to be. Thus, in other words, our thoughts about ourselves keep on molding us. The perceptions about the self and the others do make what we often call as "hello effect" of the personalities which is quite different from the realities.
4. From the above, it is clear that no realities of two persons interact with each other but false wishful perceptions about the interacting persons, . Since a person is perceived differently by different persons, and he/she has a different perception about him/herself, all interactions are between the perceived personalities and not the real personalities. We can never be objective. Reality of a person is very often full of undesirable things, like nakedness of a person is never better than his/her presentation as well - dressed. Similarly, if realities of personalities come to the forefront in interactions, a lot of mutual bitterness will come to surface and that will prove disastrous to human societies. This may look immoral for us not to be real ourselves, but it is all the way desirable.
