There is a room in a team for the complete maverick, the person who doesn’t follow company roles all the time, and is a difficult, possible even disruptive element. It is possible to have that kind of person in a team. But a maverick in a team of people who very much follow the company line can be extremely useful both in pointing out the emperor has no clothes, and this kind of thing, and also stimulating discussion. People have to understand where that person is coming from and, allow them to express their ideas and views, but of course, not necessarily, undertake to act on all their mad ideas.
