Should College Students Own Cars?
选项
答案
Should College Students Own Cars? With rising household income, parents are now able to afford a second car for their kids. In some developed cities, it is not uncommon to see college students drive to and from universities. Students’ ownership of cars has aroused conflicting views. Some people think it is a good way to nurture students’ independence, because they should be responsible for their well-beings as well as those of passers-by. They are supposed to learn the rules and behave accordingly. Others, however, oppose this argument, saying that Chinese students are not sensible to control their steering wheels. The recent tragedy and crime committed by Yao Jiaxin was one piece of hard evidence. As for me, I am inclined to agree with the former point of view. If students or their parents can afford a car, we should not deprive their rights to own one. The accused rash and cruel acts of young drivers can serve as warnings to their peers, not reasons to overact and abolish their car ownership. If guided properly, college students could be good drivers, which in turn will contribute to their sense of responsibility and self-discipline.
