答案 Different Spending Patterns in Chinese Households The chart shows the different spending patterns in Chinese households of different income in 2003. From the chart we can see food and drink made up the biggest item of expenditure in all the families. Yet the exact proportion dropped as the income level increased, declining from about 40% to 30%. The same holds true for the proportion of salary spent on education, which plunged from over 15% to less than 10%. On the contrary, the outlay on Clothing, and entertainment rose with the increase in income. The families at the first three income levels spent approximately the same amount of salary on housing, yet the number doubled for the family at the highest income level, rising from about 8% to over 15%. All in all, income level is an important factor in determining household’s spending patterns.
