Its research also shows that 84% of employers who have recruited from among the longterm sick report that their experience has been at least as good as for other workers. Official statistics last week showed that the wider measure of unemployment rose by 77,000 to 1.6m in the latest three months, while the narrower claimant count continued its long rise, climbing by 5,800 to 950,900, on course for 1m.
