    "What’s the matter, dear?" he asked.
    "I’ve made a terrible mistake, Jim," she said. "I’ve invited Betty to come to have dinner with us this evening. "

    "But I’ve just found out that there’s not enough food in the house. I asked you to get some meat on your way back from work three days ago and you forgot it. "
