Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom, occupying the northern part of the islands of Great Britain. It has an area of 78,760 square kilometers. About two thirds of Scotland is covered by the highlands. Ben Nevis, which is located in the highlands of Grampian Mountains, is the highest mountain of Great Britain. It is 1343 meters high. This region is one of the least populated areas of Great Britain. The central lowlands of Scotland which include the valley of the Clyde, Tay and Forth rivers are the most important parts in Scotland. Most of the industrial centers, farmland and three quarters of the population of Scotland are all located here. The capital city, Edinburgh and the largest city of Scotland Glasgow are both located in this area. The rich Scotland culture has gone through many changes since the past years. Scotland was mostly inhabited by the Celtic descendants in the Scottish Highlands. Scots dominated the Southern part of the country. Mostly the Scots are smart and vigilant. The Scottish culture is very energetic. The Edinburgh’s International Festival of Music and Drama reflects the culture 6f Scotland. It is one of the biggest cultural events.
