    The Writing Lab is a free service where all students at Purdue University can receive assistance and feedback on any writing-related task.     What happens during a consultation?
    Consultations last 30 minutes and allow you to work one-on-one with a consultant whose job is to help you become a better writer. You can ask for help on starting an assignment or improving the paper; you can get feedback on whether the paper meets the requirements of the assignment; you can also work on revising and polishing your work. Do I have to make an appointment to use the Writing Lab?
    You are not required to make an appointment for a consultation, but it is highly recommended. Appointments guarantee that you will meet with a consultant on a specific day and time. However, each day a certain number of drop-in slots are available. These times are given away beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day, so you can call to receive a same-day appointment.
