Good morning, everyone. Welcome to Redford Automobile.
Now I’d like to draw your attention to the organizational structure of Redford and its achievements of last year. If you look at this chart you will see that Mr. Starbucks, the General Director is responsible for running the company and takes care of general affairs in the company. He reports directly to the board.
He is assisted by four General Managers. These are Mr. Schrage, who is responsible for personnel and public relations; then we have Ms. Marquis, a lady from MIT, she takes care of research, development and manufacturing in the company. Next is Hawk Longfellow. He is in charge of sales and marketing. Mr. Longfellow travels a lot for promotion and selling. Finally we have Irvin Houston, who is in charge of financing and also we depend on him for money.
So this then brings us to the four executive departments. These are Human Resources, which deals with personnel, training and management development. Our policy of personnel development through training and promotion opportunities has continued to be a great success. Last year we recruited 10 senior engineers and 28 graduates with Master’s degrees. At the same time 15 have retired, so there is a net balance of 23. The training section has expanded considerably and moved into new areas such as quality assurance and sales training. Next is the Finance Department, responsible for corporate finance and accounting. The net profit last year was about $12,000,000, which has increased by 10% from the year before. Our Sales and Marketing Department, which takes care of selling and promotion also made great achievements last year. We set the goal at selling 650,000 units for last year but it went as high as 700,000 units. Last comes the Manufacturing and Technique Department, which is in charge of product development and manufacturing. Last year turnover increased by 13%, while costs dropped by 3%. At the same time they designed two new models of our van and we are sure the sales will take off very quickly. We expect the results will be promising.. This department is working on a new product and they hope to have it ready next year.
Directly under the General Manager, there are four Regional Managers. Each of them is responsible for the day-to-day management of a territory — these are geographically divided into North, South, East, West and Central Regions. Now the four regions are supported by two sections — Marketing and Technical Services. They are organized on a matrix basis with section leaders accountable to the Regional Managers. They work closely with the regions on the marketing and technical side. We have also invested heavily in a European technology programme which links industry with the universities.
In addition to the parent company, four subsidiaries have been set up, namely Redford China, Redford Philippines, Redford Italy and Redford Spain. Next year, we are going to open a new branch office in Paris. The subsidiaries report to General Manager directly.
