答案 The chart gives information regarding post-school qualifications in terms of the different levels and the proportion of men and women who held them in the USA in 2005. Overall, there are significant differences almost at all levels in the proportion of gender, and the lowest level, the skilled vocational diploma, witnessed the biggest gender difference, with 90% of the diploma-holders are males whereas 10% females. At intermediate levels of education (undergraduate diploma), however, females clearly outnumbered their male counterparts and women also account for 55% of bachelor’s degree receivers. By contrast, more men hold qualifications at higher education level, as they constituted 70% of postgraduate diploma and 60% of master’s degree. Although it is hard to judge whether such distribution is accidental or not, it indicates that women are becoming increasingly more independent and competitive nowadays. By receiving at least the intermediate level of education, females are far more than " angles in the houses" and are more likely to promote the advances of the society together with their male counterparts.
