答案 My View towards Beijing Bird Nest Recently, I read an article in your magazine which states the divergence among people in figure of the main Olympic stadium Bird Nest in Beijing. Some people notes that it does not get along with the surroundings. Other people hold that it will become another landmark in Beijing, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. As far as I know, the Bird Nest is widely known among Chinese people. It is a building that reflects Chinese people’ s wisdom and the nature of structure. And I am against the former opinion. Use compatibility as the only standard to judge buildings is too arbitrary. I have big faith in its connotation and its historical significance. And here are the reasons to explain my view. First, the construct was designed by Herzog & de Meuron who won Pritzker Prize in 2001 and architect Li Xinggang. As a layman, I believe the two experts must have pay enough attention to the compatibility. Second, the reason why it is called as Bird Nest is because it shapes like a bird’ s nest which in some way means the birth of life. It represents the origin and hope of human. Third, it is said mat the designers did nothing extra but just follow the structure’ s own exposure. And finally it shows the appearance of the building. As stated above, it is not difficult to find that the construction not only conveys Chinese traditional ideas also constructional rules. Its greatness is beyond expression. And it has got the recognition of most people of our time and it will stand the test of the history.
