答案 Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Opponents Currently some people label Traditional Chinese Medicine "unscientific and untrustworthy". They even suggest that the traditional medicine should be taken out of the country’s health care system. This idea stirs hot debate among Chinese people. I firmly object to such suggestions. As far as I am concerned, Traditional Chinese Medicine is the essence of China. It is a summary of the experience of the laboring people over many centuries of struggling against disease and an integral part of Chinese medicine and health system. For thousands of years it has played an important part in curing disease and protecting the health of the Chinese people, thus contributing greatly to the growth and prosperity of China, as well as to the world-wide medical knowledge. Their proposal shows people’s "ignorance" of history and the key role that Traditional Chinese Medicine has played in the lives of Chinese people. However, we have to admit that the quality of Traditional Chinese Medicine research in China has been extremely poor, and the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been curbed by problems such as a difficult pharmacological process, complicated usage and distinct tastes. Taking all these factors into consideration, the Traditional Chinese Medicine industry should speed up modernization. In addition, the Chinese Traditional Medicine must attach more importance to the protection of intellectual property rights to live up to the nation’s high reputation. In order to enter the international market, the Traditional Chinese Medicine industry should introduce advanced equipment to realize large scale production and enhance quality control. It is necessary for domestic medicine makers to operate in line with the industry’s global standards in order to make their products more acceptable to foreign consumers. It is no doubt that Traditional Chinese Medicine will be further promoted in the future and accepted by more people in the world.
