The average time spent on the Internet was about 21.7 hours in June 2013, and it climbed to 26.5 in June 2016. However, there was a sudden decline in the average time from 25.9 hours in June 2014 to 25.6 hours in June 2015. Several reasons account for that. Firstly, with the development of technological and society, Chinese people have easier access to electronic devices such as laptops, smart phones and i-pads so that they can surf the Internet whenever and wherever they like. Secondly, netizens can enjoy more convenient online recreations, for instance, watching movies and playing electronic games. Thirdly, as online stores provide a variety of goods with relatively low price, many people are fond of online-shopping. Finally, some people realize that the Internet also brings some problems such as Internet addiction, a waste of time and harm to health, so they try to cut down the time or even stop using the Internet.
