But while past research focused on the【S5】______effects of negative psychological traits, such as depression and anxiety, new research is investigating how positive traits, such as【S6】______, protect against illness.
In the recent study, men and women aged 50 and over were【S7】______for four to five years and completed psychological tests while researchers recorded strokes.
The results show that the higher someone’s sense of purpose, the lower their risk of a stroke. Those with the greatest sense of purpose were【C7】______percent less likely to suffer a stroke compared to those with the lowest.
Other research has shown thai positive mood can lower levels of the stress hormone Cortisol(荷尔蒙皮质醇), also【S8】______in stroke.

选项
答案
A
解析
空格位于主语researchers和宾语factors之间,且动作发生在过去,故应填入动词过去式作渭语。根据下文的factors such as blood pressure and alcohol use可知,研究人员是对这些因索进行了解释说明,故空格处应填入accounted, account for意为“解释,说明”。implicated和tracked都不和for连用;searched for意为“搜索”,不符合文意,故排除。
