答案 The two charts reveal that developing countries made great strides in the health conditions between 1960 and 2005. The year 1960 witnessed that the average life expectancy in these countries was at the age of 40. However, in 2005 this figure rose to almost 60. At the same time, infant mortality declined dramatically in these countries, by 50% from roughly 200 deaths for every 1, 000 births to around 100. The change in people’s health conditions can be accounted for by a number of factors, but the following two are more illuminating. One factor is that the economies of those countries have developed rapidly in recent decades, and consequently there is more money available for people to spend on health care. Another factor is that the governments of developing countries are paying more attention to education in hygiene. The figures shown above indicate a great progress in the health conditions of developing countries. They are also the evidence of both rising living standard and life span. If this trend continues, developing countries will soon approach the developed countries in terms of health care.
