Learning Liberal Arts in a Technological Age
1.人文学科在今天这个科技时代是经常被忽视的
2.然而只掌握科技信息是并不全面的
3.大学应该加强人文学科的教育
选项
答案
In today’s technological age, liberal arts have been ignored in higher education. Students enroll in colleges and want to become an engineer, biologist, computer programmer etc. They do not see the need to study history, philosophy and literature. Besides, teachers and professors put more emphasis on academic skills or studies that relate directly to a student’s professional goal. However, it is not adequate for science students to grasp knowledge in their fields only. A job alone, no matter how gratifying and financially rewarding, cannot provide them upmost satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. Only through learning humanities, can students really enjoy and appreciate the many other facets of living a full life. Universities should create environments where students can learn history, arts, literature and so on. Scientific curriculum can be established to help students grasp these liberal arts so that they will have a more promising future in this technological time.
