The anomalist maintained there were no rules. Their debate aroused people’s interest in language and led them to the detailed study of Greek. The direct result was the appearance a book of Greek grammar. These controversies and other researches on the linguistic theory formed the traditional study of language in ancient Greece--also called traditional linguistics.
