M: Hello Heather. I’m looking for you !
W: What can I do for you, Jeremy?
M: Well,(1)I have a party this weekend, so I want to know if you would like to come.
W: Wow Jeremy, I’m so excited to be there! I’m sure its going to be a lot of fun.
M: That’s great. I’m really excited too.(2)But I hope a lot of people don’t crash the party. My house is only big enough for the people I invited.
W: That’s really rude! But Jeremy, can I ask you a few questions about the party? You see, I’ve never been to a party before.
M: What? You’ve never been to a party before? What do you mean you’ve never been to a party? How is that possible?
W:(3)You know, well, I usually spend my weekends studying. So what time do you think the party will start? 6 p. m. ? 7 p. m. ?
M: Are you kidding? Parties don’t start until late, like 10 p. m.
W: 10 p. m. ? But it is the latest time for me to go back home.
M: Are you kidding? We are not in primary school, right?
W:(4 - 1)Yeah, but, you know, it’s my parents’ rules.
M:(4 - 2)Just make up an excuse. Tell your parents you’re sleeping at a friend’s house.
W: Maybe it’s only what I can do: otherwise I’m supposed to be home just when the party is starting.
M: Don’t worry. It’s normal!
W: Well Jeremy, what do you think I should wear? Should I wear something formal or casual?
M: Uh, Heather? We’re in high school. I don’t think anybody even has any formal clothes in their wardrobe.
W: OK, so you think I should dress down? Should I wear jeans and a T-shirt?
M: Yeah, definitely wear something casual. It’s not going to be a very fancy party, so there’s no reason to dress up.
W: Alright Jeremy, I think I’m ready. I promise you that I’m going to be the life of the party. I’ll be there at 10 p. m.
M: Actually, there is one more thing I have to teach you. You have to be fashionably late.
W: What? You mean I should be late to the party?
M: That’s right.(5)You have to make people think you are so cool, and have so many other exciting things to do that you couldn’t be there on time.
W: But why? I don’t understand!
M: Oh, god! What can I say! You can consider it to be one kind of party convention for girls. Yes, it’s convention.
W: So can I understand in this way: the later I come, the more people think I am really cool?
M: Yeah, that’s it! And if you really want to look cool, don’t go to the party at all!
1. When will the party most probably be held?
2. Which of the following is true about Jeremy?
3. Why has Heather never been to parties before?
4. What does Jeremy tell Heather to do with her parents?
5. How to be cool at a party according to Jeremy?
选项
A、Ask for her parents’ permission.
B、Not mention the party to her parents.
C、Help Heather to talk with her parents.
D、Listen to her parents’ advice.
答案
B
解析
本题考查行为。由句(4一1)和(4—2)可知,海瑟担心参加派对会违反父母规定的回家时间,杰里米让她编一个理由,告诉她的父母她在朋友家过夜。由此可知,B为答案。
