Global Warming
Good morning, everyone. Today we’ll look at global warming, including its causes, effects and solutions. Then what is global warming? Global warming is a mix of rising temperatures on our planet, and irregular climate change.
Global warming is happening because of several key factors, the first one is greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane. These greenhouse gases trap heat and also light in the atmosphere, this causes the temperature to rise. The next important cause of global warming is deforestation. Humans use forests as fuel, for building, furniture, and other uses such as for paper. Forests remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and they store it, when we cut down trees we release a lot of the carbon that forests store. Another important cause of global warming that is sometimes overlooked is the use of chemical fertilizers on crops. Global warming is also caused by solar radiation in the form of light waves, that pass through the earth’s atmosphere. Most of this radiation is observed by the earth and warms it.
We have looked at the causes of global warming, now let’s have a look at the effects of global warming on our planet. One of the effects of global warming is the destruction of many important physical and biological systems. There will be effects to land, water, and life. Another important effect that global warming will bring is the loss and endangerment of many species. Did you know that 30 percent of all plant and animal species alive in the world today are at risk of extinction by the year 2050 if average temperatures rise more than 2 to 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit. One very disappointing effect of global warming is war and conflicts. With a decline in the amounts of quality food, water, and land, it could bring an increase in global security threats, and war.
There is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that humans are causing global warming by creating greenhouse gases, so what can we do about it to slow down or stop global warming? It is clear that, on the one hand, we need to reduce the amounts of gases that we put into our atmosphere. One of the most important changes would be to be more energy efficient. We will need an increase in the use of wind and solar power, and natural gas. On the other hand, we can also increase the amount of greenhouse gases that we take out of the atmosphere. We can take greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere by planting trees. We will also need to make changes to the way of farming. So if we work hard and concentrate our efforts we will succeed in coping with global warming and slow down or eventually stop the continuing warming of our planet.
