Should young people be required to receive a full-time education until they are 18 years old? This has been intensely discussed for years. The following are the supporters’ and opponents’ opinions. Read carefully the opinions from both sides and write your response in about 200 words, in which you should first summarize briefly the opinions from both sides and give your view on the issue.

YES
Systematic education is an essential pathway for children to become mature. In other words, fundamental and comprehensive education ensures them to grow up in a socially acceptable and wholesome way.
There is no doubt that young people who receive education would benefit from this experience greatly, for they’ll have more opportunities to improve their life prospects. And by learning at school, they can better develop their personalities. As a result, it would be easier for them to climb the career ladder in the future.
As more young people could access provision and support in terms of education and jobs, the rate of youth unemployment may be controlled and reduced.
NO
Admittedly, a series of issues can arise out of full-time schooling, such as failure to provide tailored education according to one’s aptitude, which inevitably throttles some talents with potentiality.
One main issue about extending compulsory education is the financial burden on families and individuals, since they have to pay more tuition fees.
Some students may become demotivated as a result of extending the compulsory education. The reason lies in the fact that they may want to pursue their dreams in other fields.

Should All Students Under 18 Receive a Full-time Education? Education has always been cast in the spotlight. These days, whether students should stay at school until adulthood has become a hot topic. Those in favor of the idea believe that the prolonged full-time education is conducive to the mental growth and career development of young people as well as the reduction of unemployment rate, but those in objection claim that the measure may increase individual financial burden. As far as I’m concerned, it’s advisable to extend the full-time education, which can benefit the students, their families and the society at large. First, everyone is born with innovation potential, but how to develop it well depends on the postnatal influence from education and environment. Therefore, the continuous schooling before 18 years old can exploit their potential as fully as possible. Second, to some extent, full-time education ensures the physical safety of students, which can relieve parents’ concern. Last but not least, as it helps reduce the number of high school dropouts, the rates of juvenile crime will decline accordingly. In conclusion, the merits of extending full-time schooling prevail over its underlying demerits.
