It has become an important part of China’s ocean strategy. Significant progress has been made in the last two decades. The National Underwater Archaeological Research Center was founded in 1987, which has trained over 80 archaeological divers. We now have a whole set of laws, regulations and measures in place to protect underwater cultural heritage.
