People in favor of material achievement, on the one hand, believe that it’s a guarantee for one’s comfortable life. After all, only basic needs such as food and clothing are satisfied can higher level of needs be pursued. On the other hand, some people consider spiritual fulfillment as a demonstration of superior accomplishment. For one thing, it makes a person complete since one without spiritual fulfillment is more likely to get lost and feel empty in life. For another, spiritual fulfillment can help people get through hard times. Ups and downs are unavoidable in most people’s lives. A well-rounded person, however, can count on his or her strong spirit to gain strength and stay positive. On my part, the latter idea seems more reasonable. As important as a full stomach can be, a rich mind can lead people to a more meaningful and rewarding life. Thus, it’s more vital for people to achieve spiritual fulfillment while striving for material achievement.
