Phubber Lane Divides Netizens
Authorities have created a unique walkway as a tongue-in-cheek solution for a modern problem—smartphone addiction. The 1-meter-wide, 100-meter-long track which leads to a shopping mall is painted in red, blue and green, with pictures of mobile phones and words "special lane for phubbers". And it’s caused a stir online.
The word "phubber" was coined by the Macquarie Dictionary to describe people who stare at then-phones and ignore everything else around them. The behavior can, of course, be dangerous around traffic.
" Because of the dangers of phubbing, a special lane for phone addicts is a clever way to raise awareness of the problem and warn pedestrians to pay attention to their safety," say some. " It could convince the government to consider the significance of the phubbing problem and focus on how to deal with phubbers," an online review editorializes.
But critics question its effectiveness, saying those who stare at their phones while walking may not notice the pathway. One news site argues few phubbers will use the lane and it will have no practical value. It could also mislead others, and see many take phubbing for granted.
Some people argue phubbing is a hard habit to change. Both reliable public infrastructure and personal discipline are needed. And pedestrians need to be aware of their surroundings.

答案
My View on Special Walking Lanes for Phubbers With the popularity of mobile phones, the phenomenon that many people are indulged in their phones while walking on the road brings tremendous hidden danger. Recently, a special walkway for phubbers has raised a heated discussion among the general public. Supporters believe it is a considerate way to raise awareness of the problem and remind phubbers to pay attention to their safety, while others argue this strategy will encourage people to be glued to their phone screens all the time and take phubbing for granted. As far as I am concerned, the special lanes for phubbers are a manifestation of excessive humanity and may produce more harm than good. To begin with, it is a waste of public resources, as phubbers are so immersed in their smartphones without paying attention to their surroundings that they may even hardly notice the special path designed for them. Secondly, it is not a fundamental way to eradicate potential danger. Even if there is a special lane for them, phubbers will still bump into other pedestrians on the same lane if they do not take notice. Last but not least, this measure will make people believe that it is reasonable and right to use phones on the road, thus emboldening more pedestrians to use their phones while walking. In conclusion, safety is always of paramount concern on streets. Phubbers should be warned of their unsafe acts, but by no means should they be tolerated and even encouraged to use smartphones on the road by building lanes exclusively for them.
