Talk to each other about it. It is not necessary to agree with each other. You have only about 3 minutes for this.

E Now, I’d like you to talk about something for about 3 minutes. I’m just going to listen. I’d like you to discuss about life in the campus. A OK, I’d like to live in the room with six students sharing a dormitory which is only 20 yuan per month. I think it is the best one for our university and college students. We can learn how to get along with others and how to cooperate with others. It’s very important for us. B But do you think it’s too noisy with six students sharing a room? In my opinion, I agree with sharing a dormitory room with several classmates. But I think there should be four students sharing a room at most. It’s not crowded and noisy, and we also can learn how to cooperate with others. And sometimes I’d like to discuss with my roommates over some "privacies". A Maybe you are right. But I prefer renting a house off campus. It’s very comfortable, you can do everything you want to do in your own room, without worrying about disturbing others or being disturbed by others. It’s very quiet. You can concentrate on studying much better. B I’m afraid I can’t agree with you. I think 600 yuan per month is too expensive for us college students. It’s too luxurious. A Yes, 600 yuan per month is a bit expensive, but I think it’s worth it. If I have enough money, I think renting a room off campus is the best choice. B Even if I have enough money, I would not rent a room off campus. As for our students, we should promote our characters and personalities in daily life. We should live with our classmates on campus. So I’d like to live in a student’s apartment. It’s not as crowded as a dormitory room and it’s much less expensive than renting a room off campus. It’s hard to have a good rest with six or four students sharing one dormitory room. It’s hard to avoid disturbing others and being disturbed by others. A No, I don’t think so. I think it’s not difficult to avoid disturbing others and being disturbed by others. If you want to study, you can go to the classroom or library. There are always many students studying in the classroom and library. And to our students, we can rest after lunch when everybody wants to rest. So living with classmates helps to develop some good daily habits. B I think so. If you live with your classmates on campus, you can learn much from them and have some good habits such as getting up early in the morning and resting after lunch. The price is reasonable. And your dormitory is nearby the classrooms and the library, so it’s very convenient. A I think without living with my classmates, I can still get along well with them. And there won’t be a lot of disturbances, so I can study better. A Why did you say that sometimes you’d like to discuss with your roommates over some "privacies"? B Living with other people, I find out that most of what I previously regard as privacy, to my surprise, no longer appears "private" at all when I began my campus life, because my roommates share a great deal of what I think and feel. Discussing with them over the "privacies", I can clarify my confusion and brighten my spirits. They can give me some advice on these things and I always find them useful. So, I’d like to discuss with them over some "privacies". B Are you satisfied with your present accommodations? [If yes] Give your reasons. [If not] What kind of accommodations would you like to have? A No, I’m not satisfied with my present accommodations, it’s too crowded. The room is only 5 meters long and 3 meters wide, but there are six students sharing this little dormitory. If we are all in our dormitory, it’s even difficult to turn around. Only the bed can be our own space. There is no fan in our dormitory. So it’s so hot in summer. I want to have a bigger dormitory, which is still shared by our six girls. We get along with each other very well. We often complain about the crowded dormitory. If there is a fanner in our new bigger dormitory, we will be very happy. In a word, I want to live in a bigger dormitory with a fanner, still with six students sharing one dormitory. A Today, more and more students are entering university. How do you think the problem of accommodation can be solved? B It’s really a serious problem for university that there are so many students on campus. It’s so crowded in the dormitory with six or eight students sharing a room. And even the dormitories are not enough to meet the demand of the students, so that some students have no dormitories to live in. I think the universities should build more and more students’ accommodation off campus. Universities can also encourage the students to move out or rent rooms with other classmates off campus. Certainly the students should be supported financially by the universities. A If you don’t like sharing a room with someone else, what can you do? B I will try to get along well with him. If he is confronted with difficulties, I’ll help him. If he does something wrong and it influences me badly, I will tell him and ask him to correct it. I just think human’s nature is virtuous. I believe we can be good friends, but if he continues doing something that influences me so badly that I can’t bear it any longer, I will change to another room. Fortunately I haven’t met such a roommate. B If you have problems getting along with roommates, what could you do? A If I have problems getting along with roommates, I would question myself firstly. If it is my fault, I will apologize to them. If it is their fault or just a misunderstanding, I will talk with them about the problems. Now our relations are very good. We always solve problems by this way, and the problem can always be solved easily. For example, I always went to bed very late and disturbed my roommates’ sleep. So they were a bit angry with me. Later I said sorry to them and tried to go to bed earlier. All the roommates in my dormitory are considerate, I’m very happy to live with them.
