The neuroscientist did a study in order to tell whether children will feel the pain differently if told how it will hurt.

Kalina Michalska, a developmental neuroscientist at the University of California, Riverside said "We know that expectation affects pain experience in adults. Getting told the shot might hurt a bit could actually make the pain worse. But we don’t really know whether this is also true for children." She thus led a study to find out.
