Part-time jobs are beneficial to college students in many aspects, and some people believe that senior high school students should also be encouraged to do part-time jobs. This is allowable in law, because those who are above 16 years old are eligible for working. What is your opinion? Should we encourage senior high school students to take part-time jobs? Write an essay of about 400 words. You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.

Part-time Jobs Should Be Encouraged Senior high school students in China are usually mocked as mindless machines traveling between the dorm, the canteen and the classroom. They seldom have a chance to look at the outside world. In this case, I think senior high school students should be encouraged to take part-time jobs if time permits, because it can benefit them a lot. First, senior high school students can learn some skills that cannot be obtained from their regular curriculum. For instance, when you take a part-time job as a waiter, you have to learn to cooperate with your colleagues, to respond to customers’ orders, and to prioritize multiple tasks. Simple as it may seem, the job as a waiter requires the skills of team work, communication, and time management. Many other "simple" part-time jobs require similar skills. Although some of these skills might be touched upon in schools, they are never so intensely practiced and refined in class. Furthermore, part-time jobs enable students to have a look at the outside world and spur them to think about their future careers. High-school students in China are programmed to study, do homework and finish test papers, which gives them a dull teenage life. By occasionally taking part-time jobs, they can see that the world is more diverse than what has been described by parents and teachers. Sometimes they may get upset, if they fail to finish a task given by their employers. Sometimes they may feel overjoyed, when they are doing well in their jobs. These ups and downs can make them adult and help them to think about their future careers. In order to be better prepared for their dreamed careers, these senior high school students will certainly study harder. Despite my support of part-time jobs, I should warn that students can only do them in their spare time, such as winter and summer vacations. They should never skip classes to do part-time jobs, nor should they spend their study time to work. Under no circumstance should a student sacrifice his study. In conclusion, encouraging senior high school students to take part-time jobs is advisable, for these jobs are beneficial to cultivate their skills and guide them to think about their future careers. If students take part-time jobs properly, they will grow up more quickly and their teenage life will become more colorful.
