答案 Diploma Craze Should Be Dampened In the cartoon we see that Zhu Geliang, the greatest sage of the Three Kingdoms period, is turned down by the interviewer just because he does not have a diploma while two other interviewees, i.e., the lady with a master degree and the gentleman with a doctorate degree, are happily accepted. This cartoon satirizes the phenomenon that there is a diploma craze in our society and that interviewers pay too much attention to what diploma a job candidate gets while his/her true competence is completely overlooked. I hold that diploma craze should be dampened. Firstly, diploma does not always mean job competence. It is usually the case that a job applicant with excellent educational backgrounds does not always have equivalent practical work performance. It suffices to say that diploma should not be accounted as an important requirement for ideal job candidates. In addition, diploma craze drives the students in colleges to pursue unnecessary extra more year education so as to get better job and better pay. This trend hinders the normal growth of working forces in the human resources market, and to some extent, causes a heavier burden on education for the government. In conclusion, diploma is not the only criterion for a qualified job candidate, and diploma craze inevitably slows the normal circulation of working forces in human resources market and adds extra educational burden for the government. Therefore, I hold the view that diploma craze should be dampened.
