On the one hand, social media builds an open and multiplex relation network. It brings the once-close now living-apart friends closer by enabling people to track posts of their friends on the social media. People do get closer by showing concern, appreciation, and admiration for their friends via social media. It also polishes up the cognition mode of interpersonal communication—the instant update and timely sharing guarantee the exchange and impact of all kinds of ideas and opinions. On the other hand, modern people seem to be swept off their actual life from these sitting next to them, and get caught up in the endless updates and posts of those far away. This universal addiction to social media, be it in the coffee house with a friend, or the apartment with your beloved ones, has blocked people from paying attention to what is real in their life. The virtual "perfect world" presented on the social media is like the "greener hill", which always seems to be better than the one you have.
