Here’s the drought edition for today. The good news is there’s going to be a little rain where it’s needed. The bad news is that it just isn’t enough. Like I have said before, hot and dry weather tends to beget hot and dry weather. So, if it doesn’t start raining soon, it’s going to be a mighty long and hot and dry and generally miserable summer in South Georgia and points west all the way to Mississippi at least. That may also apply to the Tennessee Valley, since they are in a dry zone as well, and there’s nothing coming that will put any big dent in the drought in the next week or so for any of those places.
      The good news for places farther west to the Arklatex is that it has been raining pretty good for a while now. These are the places that I am talking about when I say in the video blog that are short of a year worth of rainfall over the last 4-5 years. That’s really dry, bad enough that a lot of the farmers a- round there have either had to give it up or have strongly considered it. Hopefully, we can keep the rain going through the growing season this year and have the frost good year in quite some time.
