答案
What would a world be like without advertising? You might think it would be an absolute joy to experience. You might feel as free as a bird because you would no longer be the target of an advertising campaign. Just think of all the things you could do. You would be able to sit untroubled in front of your television evening after evening watching your favorite programs without a single commercial break. You would never have to resort, to your remote control to turn off the sound during commercials. You would never find your mailbox stuffed with boring flyers using all sorts of persuasive techniques to convince you to buy things you do not need. In a word, you would no longer feel vulnerable to lies and false claims. On the other hand, when you are enjoying a magazine there would be no colorful pull-out sections to appeal to your senses. When you walk down a busy street, there would be no billboards attracting your attention and promising you all kinds of wonderful things. Everything would seem dull and uninteresting. Names such as Vidal Sassoon, Pantene Pro-V or Intel Inside wouldn’t be so familiar to you. Gone would be all those tasty free samples. Suddenly you would have to pay for all the TV and radio programs you enjoy now. Suddenly all those free magazines on the Internet would cost money. Suddenly free services would no longer be free. Your hotmail address would cost a fortune. You would go to a shopping mall only to discover that there is no information anywhere and none of the salesgirls know any brand names. In the final analysis, would life really be that much more convenient if you were freed from the world of advertising? Perhaps not.
