High absenteeism not only affects company morale, but also affects the bottom line for any business. There are ways you can lower the rate of employee absences, and cut down on the high costs associated with them, without having to resort to termination. People working in an effective team environment also have an increased sense of responsibility, since their contributions are required and tend to have lower absenteeism rates.
