Difficult points: Be able to put the expressions into practical situation. Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming-up Say greetings to all the students. Step 2 Lead in Activity:Listen to an English song Baby Ducks. Reason:Use a song to help students familiar with the words of left, right and so on. The music will arouse students’ interest and the teaching content would be naturally led in. Step 3 Presentation Activity 1:Teacher draws a map on the blackboard and asks students, " Where is the hospital?" And then introduces the new words left and right. Activity 2: Listen to and follow the tape recorder to read the dialogue on the blackboard. A: Excuse me. B: Can I help you? A: Yes, please. Where’ s the... ? B:Turn left/right at...Go straight down... A: Thank you very much. B: You’re welcome. Activity 3: Teach all the expressions and phrases. Reason: Activity 1 and activity 2 lay a foundation for activity 3 , and students can easily grasp the content through these activities. Step 4 Practice Activity 1: Students study to sing and dance with The Rabbit Dance. Activity 2: Invite several pairs of students to come to the front to ask the way and answer the way. Give appropriate evaluation. Reason: Activity 1 can motivate the activity of students’ participation and activity 2 can cultivate students’ awareness of cooperation and competition. Step 5 Production Activity: Guide all the students to make songs with the phrases have learnt and invite them to chant: Left, left, turn left. Right, right, turn right.
