The number of those who love reading decreased sharply from 55% in 1999 to 10% in 2014, with the number of those addicting themselves to the Internet or mobile rising to 70% from 10% and the percentage of students loving physical training decreased from 35% to 28%. So what are the reasons behind the phenomena reflected by the chart? The most important factor leading to the dramatic changes is the rapid development of information technology, which causes a growing number of college students to forget reading books but absorb in surfing on the Internet. The fact that many students choose reading online cannot change the truth that people turn their mind and energy from academic studies to Internet games. It is high time that we took measures to discourage college students from becoming addicted to the Internet but focus on their studies and classic reading. The school and the teachers must work together to create a favourable environment for students and prevent them from abandoning themselves to the Internet and ignoring the significance of physical training.
