It reminds us of a phenomenon we frequently observe in college graduates who are yet to embark on their career. Owing to the nature of the position, civil servants, or government officials, have become the most sought-after job in the market. Graduates have grown to see it as a lifelong secure position with guaranteed health care, decent salary and social recognition. Many people even give up the much-higher-paid occupations in big companies to enroll for the civil servant qualification examination. Typically several hundred applicants will apply for one hot post; in some cases the ratio even rises to several thousand to one as is shown in the cartoon. Nevertheless, is this the best choice for the graduates who have received four-year higher education? I don’t believe so. College students should have a discerning mind in deciding their future career. So it is necessary for graduates to keep a cool head, make an analysis and find a job that matches his/her interest and personality.
