Each year in the United States, 1 in 10 teenage girls becomes pregnant. This vast subgroup of single mothers face many difficulties, such as lack of education, job readiness, and emotional maturity. Their crucial need to complete their education and achieve employment goals is complicated by their immediate needs for food, housing, child care, and emotional support.
Charlene:
The economic trouble of one parent families mainly results from the incompatibility of child care and work, especially in rural regions where it is problematic to find adequate day care facilities, because there is lack of day nurseries for children younger than three years old or day care centers for older children that are open only for more than a few hours a day. Therefore, women cannot work full time; If mothers are able to combine child care and work for all that they often get poor.

Although they generally have a much healthier economic status than their female counterparts, single fathers often find their child care role conflicting with work expectations. They also find themselves filling social roles for which they are not prepare. They have to deal with such difficulties as loneliness, grief, hurt, sadness, rejection, guilt, insecurity and depression. When accompanied by financial pressure and the stress of everyday activities, these feeling can easily become overwhelming.

Children will usually be observed to be influenced negatively or positively by their parent. If the parent develops a" victim" attitude, the children will most likely fee] victimized. However, if the parent shows an optimistic attitude, the children will be more likely to have a more hopeful outlook. Attitude can make the different between happiness and misery. Children’s lives change as a result of their parents’ divorce or the loss of a parent. Therefore, they often need special attention in coping with these changes.

Some children will need to visit a parent and will only see them on weekends or holidays. Some will live with one parent one week and the other parent the next week. When the child’s place of residency changes, they are faced with the adjustment of a new neighborhood, new friends, and a different school. In these situations, children often worry about the other parent. It is common for younger children to return to earlier behavior such as thumb sucking, clinging to blankets and other security objects. Older children are more likely to respond with feeling of insecurity and anger.
