The Ethical Consumer Research Association will provide information to shoppers on
M: Ruth, do you know something about the Ethical Consumer Research Association?
W: Yes, so far as I know, it’s an organization that provides information for shoppers.
M: Oh? What kind of information?
W: Well, like letting shoppers know what the companies are doing behind the products they see on the store or shops, and— and the shoppers are concerned with some ethical issues.
M: For example?
W: Well, they may want to know that the product they are buying hasn’t been made at the expense of people who are producing it, whether it’s in this country or aboard. They might also be concerned with other kinds of issues, for example, whether the company is involved in selling arms.
M: But how can one become an ethical shopper when buying things?
W: One way of thinking about ethical shopping is thinking a-bout buying less.
M: Oh? How?
W: Well, you see, sometimes we buy a lot more than we need; we buy more items of clothing than we need. So being an ethical shopper really means thinking a bit before you go and spend your money in the shops.
M: Could you give me some advice?
W: You see, something may cost a bit more in the short run, but be worth it in the long run, so if you are paying for quality, something will last you longer and save you money.
M: Hum—
W: And sometimes you can buy things at second-hands, and quality in most second-hand shops is really very good these days. So what about thinking before you shop?
M: Ruth, thanks for your advice.
W: Pleasure.
选项
A、ask for others’ advice before buying things.
B、consider the worth of something to be bought.
C、postpone buying things whenever possible.
D、search for things that are less costly.
答案
B
解析
浏览题干和选项可知,an ethical shopper购物时的做法是听音重点。由something may cost a bit more in the short run,but be worth it in the long run可知,道德消费者应该关注所买的东西是否物有所值,故[B]为答案,其他的选择录音中均未提及。
