答案 The above cartoon warns us of a common but often-neglected mistake we often commit: bias. In the picture, a group of people are holding a meeting to find out approaches to certain issues. The chairman of the meeting, who is sitting on the left side of the picture, thinks himself as a hammer to hit a nail with, and treats all the problems raised at the meeting as nails to be hit upon. Clearly, he has become a prisoner of his own experience. Everyone of us tends to believe what we want to believe. A majority of craftsmen think they are more intelligent, more fair-minded and more skilled than the average persons. Part of the reason we view ourselves so favorably is that we use criteria that work to our advantage. As economist Thomas Schelling explains, " Everybody ranks himself high in qualities he values: careful drivers give weight to care, skilled drivers give weight to skill, and those who are polite give weight to courtesy. " This way everyone ranks high on his own scale. In order to overcome our bias and prejudice, we must be aware not only of our conscious thoughts, but also of our unconscious prejudices , bias and habits. A bias recognized is a bias sterilized. As the old saying goes, it is never too late to give up our prejudices.
