W: Mr. Smith, I’m Mary Miller.
M: Well, hello, Miss Miller. It’s early and you’ve come a long way just for an interview.
W: Yes, Sir. I read your ad in the paper and I drought this job would give me a good start.
M: I see. Of course you realize it will be dull for a while. You wouldn’t get to practice law right off.
W: Oh, I realize that, Sir.
M: It would be all kinds of odd jobs—delivering things to the court house, and bringing things that the lawyers forgot. Even running down to get them a sandwich now and then.
W: I wouldn’t mind that, Sir. At least I could get the feel of a law office.
M: What grade are you in?
W: I’ll be a senior next year.
M: And what law school do you plan to go to?
W: Harvard, Sir.
M: Well, that’s setting your mark high enough. You realize this job doesn’t pay very much, don’t you?
W: Yes, Sir, but I can get by. Experience and education are more important now.
M: When can you come to work?
W: Right now, Sir!
M: OK, you’ve got yourself a job, but take a couple of days to get located and find your way around, then come on Wednesday morning at eight sharp.
W: Yes, Sir! And thank you, Sir! I’ll be here!
