Is It Better to Be an Employer than to Be an Employee? When asked about whether it is better to be an employer than to be an employee, different people hold different views. Some people believe that it’s better to be self-employed. However, others hold that it is better to work for a company or an institution. For my part, I agree with the latter. First and foremost, the employers have more pressure than the employees because they are responsible for the whole business whereas the latter just apply themselves to their own duty. The employers must work out the long-term plans for the company, pay the taxes and insurance and retain talented workers. Besides, they take much more risks than the workers. They must worry about the lawsuits, the deficit and losing everything. When the company goes bankrupt, the employee can go to another company and if competent, he can pick up another job without much loss of income while the employer loses much more than a job. Last but not least, the employer is less free than the employee. He is the only person in the company that is not able to submit his resignation and leave. In brief, the employers assume more responsibilities, take more risks and enjoy less freedom than their employees, so it is better to be an employee than to be an employer.
