What a welcome reverse to patriotism and nationalism, but one where we can devote casual loyalty to different nations. This self-pleasing, free encounter with the world sure beats the darker news reports of the combination of Latin American drug companies, G-8 disharmony, or the disturbing Afghan-Pakistan border.
    And those skillful and active and multilingual and multicolored players. How we love to cheer them, running about the field.
