It is thought the list was penned by an assistant with Boyle, a leading intellectual figure of the age, 【B7】______his hopes for the future. The result is a list of 24 aspirations, which would have been widely discussed with his scientific【B8】______but would doubtless have seemed outlandish (奇异的) dreams to the 17th century man on the street.
Boyle’s first "wish" was the "Prolongation (延伸) of Life."【B9】______, his first wish was certainly achieved. And it remains a hot topic for scientists today.
