A federal jury in New York will resume deliberations _________ in the trial of four men accused in the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa.
A federal jury in New York will resume deliberations Wednesday in the trial of four men accused in the 1998 bombings of U. S. embassies in Africa. Before adjourning for the day Tuesday, jurors asked for several documents and exhibits for review. They have already asked twice to reexamine evidence against Waddih el-Hage, who faces life in prison if convicted. Prosecutors say he established a terrorist cell for Saudi exile Osama bin Laden in Nairobi, the scene of one of the two bomb attacks. Defense lawyers dispute this and say their client was only a longtime business associate of Osama bin Laden, who has been indicted in the United States for orchestrating the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224 people. The case went to the jury last week after months of arguments from federal prosecutors and defense lawyer. Jurors have also requested to view copies of anti-American letters prosecutors say were written by Osama bin Laden. The jurors must make more than 600 decisions before they can reach a verdict on the four accused.
